The Evil Within is a game played by Markiplier. It is followed by The Evil Within 2.
Game Information[]
The single-player story is arranged in chapters, which players complete in order to progress through the story. The game is played from a third-person perspective in which scavenging for supplies and learning when to fight or run are key factors in surviving the dangers of the game. Such dangers include: bear traps, barbed wire traps, bombs, and spike traps; 'The Haunted,' the game's most common enemy; 'Reborn Laura,' a multi limbed, long haired, crawling creature; Ruvik, the game's main antagonist; 'The Keeper', a large humanoid with a safe as a head who wields a large meat tenderizer hammer; and 'Sadist,' a large humanoid wearing a spiked metal mask on his face, wielding a chainsaw and covered in blood.
Story[]
You play as Detective Sebastian Castellanos as you and your partners Joseph Oda and Juli Kidman go into an Insane Asylum to investigate a horrific murder. As you go, you see the dead bodies of the asylum workers and patients and you soon find camera footage of police officers being slaughtered by a hooded figure and then gets attacked by him. Sebastian then wakes up to encounter a creature known as Sadist and then escapes only to travel from one nightmare to the next as he seeks to avoid being killed by the host, Ruvik.

The game features two additional story packs that revolve around Juli Kidman and a challenge pack where the player takes control of the Keeper.
The Assignment[]
The Assignment revolves around Juli Kidman, delving into her past and revealing what her true motives are.
The Consequence[]
The Consequence progresses further into Juli's story and provides a conclusion to the previous cliffhanger.
The Executioner[]
The game's set as first-person battle matches, where the player takes control of a the Keeper and faces many creatures and characters from the game.
